The CDC has recently released a report titled Use of Selected Nonmedication Mental Health Services by Adolescent Boys and Girls With Serious Emotional or Behavioral Difficulties: United States, 2010–2012. This August 2014 National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) brief describes the differences between boys and girls in the use of non-medication mental health services in various school and non-school settings among youth aged 12–17 with serious emotional or behavioral difficulties.
This report compliments other two other recent NCHS reports on the use of medication for youth with serious emotional or behavioral issues. Providers will want to read this report to learn more about how medication and nonmedication delivery differs between boys and girls based on the delivery setting.
