On August 5th, 2013, Voices for Virginia’s Children –along with NAMI Virginia and sponsoring partners–held a gubernatorial candidate forum on mental health at Collegiate School in Richmond.

According to a report at 1in5kids.org, candidates were provided six questions covering a range of topics on both children’s and adult mental health issues ahead of the event. Two of the gubernatorial candidates, Republican nominee Ken Cuccinelli and Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe, presented their responses in a town hall-style forum for a crowd of around 450 people at the event itself. Both these candidates, as well as Libertarian nominee Robert Sarvis, completed written responses to these same questions.
